Position Details

CHIEF is looking for a Media Buyer/Planner with a passion for results-oriented marketing campaigns. As a part of the Strategy team you will report to the Digital Outreach Lead and work in a highly collaborative environment to drive client impact. This means sound vision and proven expertise around how to buy and plan media across channels, including traditional, broadcast, digital, social, OOH and mobile. You should also be savvy in SEO/SEM, social media and broader marketing disciplines that complement paid media and amplify brand reach.

What You'll Do

  • Provide media planning and buying expertise on projects, working with a collaborative, inter-agency team
  • Conduct company, industry and audience research to create media and advertising recommendations
  • Create RFPs and vendor consideration sets to engage the marketplace with campaigns. Review returned proposal submissions to build plan recommendations
  • Establish relationships, communicate and negotiate with vendors in order to develop media plans, issue insertion orders and oversee timely placements
  • Develop client- or campaign-specific media plans that meet client requirements, goals and budgets across the entire media spectrum
  • Work across disciplines to develop, execute, optimize and measure effectiveness of media campaigns
  • Present recommendations, proposals and end-of-campaign reports to clients while providing insightful rationale to drive greater impact
  • Work with Project Management and Strategy teams to monitor, track and approve invoices
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to Marketing Strategists and media team, as appropriate
  • Contribute to agency business development opportunities and pitches among current and prospective clients
  • Maintain awareness of media trends and opportunities, driving innovation and creativity within the agency and among clients

What It Takes

  • 3-5 years media planning and buying experience
  • Ability to connect the dots between client objectives and the full array of potential media, marketing and creative strategy or tactics
  • Has planned a media campaign from start to finish (strategy building, sending/reviewing proposals, selecting media partners, sending contracts, campaign optimization and reporting)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both internal and client-facing settings with every level in an organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Experience using research tools such as Moz, SpyFu, comScore, Kantar and GfK MRI
  • Must hold Bachelor’s Degree and be a U.S. Citizen
  • Exceptionally organized, with the ability to manage multiple clients or campaigns, and meet production deadlines
  • Google Analytics and/or AdWords certification preferred, but not required
  • Experience with direct to consumer and public sector organizations desired, but not required
