Position Details

CHIEF is looking for a Back-End Drupal Developer with a love of solving problems in a creative environment. As a part of the Tech Team you work in a highly collaborative environment to drive client impact. You’ll work with designers, other developers, UXers, strategists and project managers to develop and maintain Drupal websites. We’re looking for a candidate with experience building sites, developing modules, performing security reviews and code reviews, scripting migrations and performing deployments.

Note: CHIEF also encourages applicants who wish to be considered for a senior role to apply, provided that they have more than 4 years of experience with Drupal development; demonstrable expertise with PHP development; a history of leading projects with minimal oversight; and experience directly managing or mentoring other developers.

What You'll Do

  • Perform site-building activities, including creating and modifying views, contexts and blocks in order to match functionality specified in wireframes and designs
  • Create and test custom Drupal modules
  • Install, test and debug contrib Drupal modules
  • Script migrations using the Migrate module, and supplement migration efforts with the Feeds module
  • Evaluate designs, wireframes and other deliverables during the design and user experience phase for potential development issues and flag feasibility challenges when needed
  • Conduct peer review of code created by other developers
  • Perform security reviews of sites prior to deployments
  • Communicate the intricacies of complex web development issues, acting as a subject matter expert both internally across departments and externally with clients

What It Takes

  • Experience architecting Drupal sites
  • Experience with Drush
  • Experience developing modules
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Experience with Drupal front-end development and configuration, including creating Drupal themes from scratch based on design comps
  • Expert HTML and Sass/CSS skills
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately
  • Ability to estimate time and level of effort for development tasks
  • Preferred: Experience developing migration scripts
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of accessibility best practices, Section 508 Compliance and/or WCAG 2.0 standards

Additional Requirements

  • 3+ years professional web development experience, 2+ years of experience with Drupal
  • Bachelor’s degree and U.S. Citizenship
